What Made New York City Real Estate Come Back After 9/11

What Made New York City Real Estate Come Back After 9/11

Today is a day that no one will ever forget and those lost should never be forgotten. As a local New Yorker it is etched in my brain from family and friends lost that day. It is also a time for reflection and to look around and see how far we have come both in our own personal lives and a city. This day is a reminder of how strong, resourceful and passionate New Yorkers are. Looking back on New York City then I can remember the mountains of ruble that took months to remove and the smell that lingered. The Financial District was completely desolate, Tribeca was some weird area off to the side that had some sketchy warehouses, the meatpacking was full of clubs, Williamsburg wasn't even a thought and SoHo was "up and coming". When you think about it in those terms and see how much has changed it is shocking at times. This city is amazing in its resiliency and the people are tough.

At this point New York City has far exceeded most peoples expectations in terms of both glamour and price. The city and its people have truly overcome nearly every obstacle over thirty years to get here from crime, terrorism and financial collapse. When those towers fell a lot of people counted New York City as down and out and instead we can now look back and see that it made the city stronger and come together like never before. Over the years the work the people of this city have put in to make it a better place has paid off and its reflected in the price. The work to rebuild the financial district and Tribeca is outstanding. The resourcefulness of the entrepreneurs in this City has been unmatched. This is the New York City I grew up loving.

The city has changed so much after 9/11 and the real estate prices has been one of the driving benefactors due to both a macro level and the success of the entrepreneurs over the years. Its a city that will never stop growing even when people think its going backwards. When New York City is at its lowest point that is when the people here step up and rebuild it. This will always happen and its the reason why New York City real estate is always a good bet. It is because the strength of the local population will always come back and fight for this city. Even when it is inconvenient, it is what has truly made this place special throughout the years, the people.
